Amber Salley is the Founder & Managing Director of Amber Salley Advisory Group, an independent supply chain advisory practice.
Amber spent nearly twelve years as a Gartner Sr. Director Analyst covering the supply chain planning technology vendor landscape, where she conducted 4,000+ advisory interactions with C-suite executives across every industry with physical supply chains—from manufacturing and chemicals to retail, healthcare, CPG, and industrial sectors. Her client base spanned Fortune 100 enterprises, mid-market operators, and PE/VC investors evaluating portfolio company supply chain strategy. As lead author of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Supply Chain Planning Solutions, she developed deep insight into how organizations evaluate technology and what separates successful transformations from stalled initiatives.
What distinguishes her perspective is a career that has moved across all sides of the supply chain ecosystem: hands-on transformation work in industry (IBM’s global supply chain), strategy consulting (Accenture, Booz & Company), research and advisory (Gartner), and supply chain software (GAINSystems, where she shaped strategic market position as VP of Industry Solutions). This cross-sector journey has given her uncommon fluency in how supply chain operating models, technology capabilities, and organizational structures are evolving—both for enterprises navigating transformation and for vendors building products to serve them.
Amber is based in the Chicago area, where she lives with her husband and two young children. She works with organizations across all sizes on supply chain transformation strategy, technology selection and value realization, and vendor-neutral advisory. She also advises supply chain technology companies on go-to-market strategy, competitive positioning, and market narrative.
