James brings over 15 years of experience working at the intersection of strategy, digital transformation, and venture building with enterprise leaders across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. His core value lies in helping leadership teams make high-impact strategic choices and then reliably executing on them, ensuring that strategic ambition translates into implementable change and sustainable competitive advantage. He is particularly motivated by leading large, multidisciplinary teams to solve complex, high-stakes problems.

He started his career with a strong financial foundation, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant and spending several years in corporate finance, before moving into strategy with Monitor Deloitte, a globally leading strategy practice. Over a decade at Monitor Deloitte, he held senior leadership roles, led the digital strategy, venture, and proposition design offering in the Netherlands, and delivered multiple corporate, business, commercial, market entry, and go-to-market strategies, primarily in financial services.

More recently, as Transformation Director at a leading global fintech, he worked closely with C-level leadership on large-scale digital and technology transformation programmes, combining strategic direction with disciplined execution. Across his career, he has led many large multidisciplinary project teams, managed business units, and navigated complex execution-level stakeholder environments. He has taken four ventures from concept through to end-to-end design and build, including two greenfield fully digital banks.

Most recently, he co-founded Caelion Advisory, an AI growth advisory business focused on helping leadership teams translate AI investments made for efficiency into new revenue streams, commercial models, and scalable growth. This blend of financial grounding, strategy leadership, technology depth, and delivery experience enables him to operate comfortably at the executive level, translating complex digital agendas into clear priorities, actionable roadmaps, and measurable outcomes.
