João has been running his own consulting practice ARBORIS focused on family business, having been awarded “best FB consuling company in Portugal” by Wealth@Finance for 2005. Previously he was invited to set up EY´s stratgy practice in lIsbon, was CEO of Rioforte, 3bioEuro AUM conglomerate of family origin in POrtugal, Brazil and Africa operating in Real Estate, Energy, Agribusiness, Healthcare and Tourism.
After his MBA in 1990 and a brief stay at Mars, he start an 18 year long career in strategy consulting, initially at Roland Berger (SEnior Partner. in 2001) and later with A.T. Kearney (Managing Partner for Portugal in 2006 and President of A.T. Kearney Iberia in early 2009 to head Rioforte. João was born in 1961, graduated in Civil Engineering in 1985, completed his Nova /Wharton MBA in 1990 and a Post Graduate course on Private Equity & Venture Capital from Harvard Business School (2012).
Throughout his career, worked in Portugal, Spain, France, UK, Italy, Morocco, Brazil, Mozambique and Angola, among other Latin American and African countries. As a consultant, he advised top management of over 50 top tier clients across a wide span of industries, in particular Energy, Construction and Infrastructures, Travel & Leisure, Transportation, Environmental Industries and Consumer Goods. He supported several major IPOs, M&As and structural transformation processes across these industries.
