My background is one of deep experience of the banking industry over more than 40 years specializing in financial institutions. I have enjoyed roles as a commercial banker, a financial crime compliance expert and an independent freelancer working for one of the “big 4” consulting firms.
For the past 15 years I have been immersed in the financial crime compliance world with a focus on correspondent banking and PSPs. During the past 3 years I have been leading and managing the development of the correspondent banking and PSP control framework for ING. My introduction to this role was as a freelancer working for PwC to uplift this control framework. Subsequently I was took on this role in-house as a FTE.
I would like to use the knowledge and experience that I have gained to improve their financial crime compliance frameworks and governance models. I am keen to ensure control frameworks are strong and sustainable yet flexible enough to respond to the changes that we face in from organized crime.
Due to my experience I have a particular interest in higher risk institutions. As a person I believe that I have developed into someone who listens and is thoughtful and asks questions to understand a problem and the perspectives of others before pronouncing my own opinion. One of my ex-colleagues said that I always do the right thing even if it is against my own interests. I am very happy to have been awarded this accolade.
