Dr. Covington is an executive leader with over 20 years of Global Biopharmaceutical expertise spanning across multiple businesses units and therapeutic areas. These areas include Strategic Planning, Real World Evidence (HEOR), Consumer Marketing, Field-based Medical and Scientific Exchange, Business Development, Health Policy, Immuno-oncology, Metabolic Outcomes, Neuroscience and Infectious Disease.
Melva is the Founder and Managing Director of AGAPE Strategic Solutions of Maryland, LLC and Co-Founder of People Empowering People for Inclusion Now, LLC (PEP!IN). Both companies focus on providing research, engagement and technology solutions that enable stakeholders to make informed, strategic decisions for scientific innovation, customer engagement and clinical research that are inclusive of all voices participating in the process.
Melva also serves as an active leader in the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA), where as President, she has led the re-engineering of the Greater Washington Metro Chapter in the Mid-Atlantic Region for the past 3 years.
In 2023, she was honored to receive the Everest Award and most recently in 2024, the Marie Curie Award from the HBA Mid-Atlantic Region for growing the chapter, programs and its volunteer leaders. She is passionate about contextually assessing strategy and integrated data solutions that can be applied to challenges aimed at improving health outcomes and care across diverse patient populations.
She has an A.B. in Politics/Economics from The Catholic University of America, Master of Public Health and Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and MBA from Cornell University. She has produced numerous peer-review articles, conference presentations and posters.
