Dr Mbete qualified as a medical doctor from the University of Natal in 2001, and practiced as a general practitioner between 2005 and 2013. She began consulting to several corporates and insurance companies during that time and thereafter. Dr Mbete founded Tshiamo Health Solutions in 2012 to pursue her ambitions of providing strategic advisory support to healthcare organisations.
Whilst completing a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), she worked with PPO Serve, a healthcare start-up pioneering value-based care products and programmes in South Africa. She was responsible for rolling out a maternity programme across sites within a private hospital group.
Thereafter, she worked at Life Healthcare driving the group’s value-based care strategy. Having worked with various stakeholders in the private and public care sectors, individual and corporate clinical care providers, patient groups, and payers, she brings unique and well-rounded perspectives and insights to healthcare programme and service design, and healthcare programme financing and alternative reimbursement models.
